Speedwork
Exercise: Did speed work with Carl S. Starting from UAH, we did 4x4 minutes hard with 2:30 rest, and then an extra 2 minutes hard. Total time : 42:47. Total distance : 5.63 miles

5 miler from UAH
Exercise: Ran 5.07 mile loop from UAH with Ronnie N. and Nathan G. (French Fry and Cheeseburger) in 38:33 (7:38 per mile pace).

LONG Trail run
Exercise: Ran for 1:51:35 on Monte Sano on some new trails I've never been on before including the Powerline trail, the Red Lizard trail, and the Warpath Ridge trail. Very muddy in some areas as all of the traffic from yesterday's Mt. Mist 50K run left the trail fairly torn up. Estimated distance 10.5 miles, putting me at 37.5 for the week.

Friday Hard, Saturday Easy
Exercise: Friday - ran 5.08 mile temp loop with Carl S. Wind chill in the 20s, but after about 10 minutes we couldn't tell. Total time - 35:19 - 6:58 per mile pace.
Friday night, I helped out at the pre-registration for the Mountain Mist 50K held here in Huntsville. Called the toughest 50K in the country. I'm thinking seriously about doing this race next year. It's all on the trails of Monte Sano Mountain with extreme elevation changes, creek crossings, rock climbing, etc.
Saturday : ran 41 minutes on the treadmill, 512 calories, 4.04 miles.
Total mileage (Monday-Saturday) -27 miles. Long run coming up on Sunday should push me close to 35 for the week for my highest mileage week in about a year.

Cool Tempo Lunch run
Exercise: Did a 4.8 mile tempo run with Carl S. Started at UAH Fitness Center. 34:12 - 7:07 per mile pace. Cold starting out, but sweating when we finished. One big hill thrown in just for good measure. This is a pic of the loop (we added 0.11 this week to make 4.8 - last week was 4.69).

Exercise: Did speedwork at Lockheed field with Carl S. 1.6 mile warmup. Then 4x400 and 4x800 (3 miles total). Then 1.4 mile cooldown - 6 miles total in 35 degree weather with windchill in the 20s.

Friday - tough tempo day
Exercise: Met Carl S. at UAH Fitness center. We had planned on doing about 4.75 miles at a slow pace with a hill or two. At about mile two I noticed he started speeding up (which he is prone to do). I answered and it escalated from there. We finished doing the last mile at about 6:15 pace. Total : 4.69 miles in 32:51 (7:00 pace including the hills and a slow start).

Exercise: Ran 3.5 on treadmill at home (35 minutes - started at speed 4.4. Every 1:30 increased speed by 0.2. Every 10 minutes increased incline by 1. Was hitting a really good pace by the end. Last 5 minutes was cooldown.
Lifted weights at UAH Fitness Center. Jumped rope (3x110 reps).
Had our 8th church league basketball game tonight - lost - we're now 5-3.

Another long run
Exercise: Went back up to Monte Sano ( little wet and muddy from last night's rain). Did around 9 miles in 95 minutes (some very steep trails). Then went to UAH Fitness center and did a 1 hour yoga class.

Monte Sano group run
Exercise: Met up on Monte Sano mountain for a group trail run. I was surprised that aver 20 people showed some including several of the fastest runners in Huntsville. I only did 62 minutes as I plan on going out for another hour + tomorrow AM. Last week's mileage was 32. Started off this week with about 6 today.

Tough day to start the new year
Exercise: Went to Lockheed field. Had planned on doing 5-6 easy miles. Got almost 4 in when I spotted Carl S. (my usual speedwork partner) - I hadn't planned on hooking up with him today, but decided to go ahead since he was already there. Did 3 x 800 at 6:10-6:20 pace plus a few more cooldown minutes for a total of 5.75 miles. 5 straight days of running now had put me at 24 miles in the last 5 days.
